Care for Your Bear or Cuddly Toy!

Ensuring the cleanliness of cuddly toys is quite important, especially considering the inevitable mess that kids create! However, washing these lovely toys can be a bit tricky.

To help you with this task, we've put together a little guide on washing cuddly toys for your children. This guide covers various cleaning methods, drying and additional useful tips. Read on for an approach to maintaining the cleanliness of your favourite cuddly companions.

Start by gently removing dust and surface dirt using a soft-bristled brush or a vacuum upholstery tool.

How to Clean Soft Toys in the Washing Machine:

  • Check the Care Label: Make sure the toy is machine washable by referring to the care label. If applicable, use a gentle cycle with cool water.

  • Choose a Gentle Detergent: Opt for a mild detergent designed for sensitive skin, often labeled as "baby" or "gentle." Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach.

  • Protect with a Mesh Bag: Consider placing the toy in a mesh laundry bag to prevent tangling and preserve its stuffing. If a mesh bag isn't available, a pillowcase can serve as a suitable alternative.

  • Post-Wash Care: After the cycle, carefully inspect the toy for any remaining stains. Treat stubborn stains with a gentle fabric stain remover before allowing the toy to air dry.

How to Wash Cuddly Toys By Hand:

  • Create a Caring Cleaning Solution: Fill a sink with cool water and add a small amount of mild detergent. Alternatively, baby shampoo can be used for a gentle touch.

  • Submerge and Massage: Immerse the toy, gently massage the detergent until it becomes foamy, and let it soak according to the care instructions.

  • Stain Treatment: Address stubborn stains with a gentle stain remover before rinsing the toy thoroughly with cool water.

  • Remove Excess Water with Care: Gently squeeze or wrap the toy in a towel to remove excess water, and then lay it flat for air drying.

How to Dry Cuddly Toys for Kids:

  • Consider an Air-Dry Option: If time allows, let the toy air-dry overnight.

  • Choose a Gentle Drying Method: For quicker drying, use a hairdryer on a cool setting or lay the toy in indirect sunlight. Avoid prolonged sun exposure to prevent any colour fading.

  • Show Your Toy Some Love: Once dry, gently fluff up the toy to restore its original shape, and give it a playful shake.

  • Reminder: Remember to avoid using a tumble dryer, as this can potentially damage the toys.

Show Extra Love with Spot Cleaning for Non-Washable Toys:

For delicate or non-washable toys, consider spot cleaning with a gentle touch:

  • Create a Cleaning Solution: Mix cool water with a mild liquid detergent, or use baby shampoo or baking soda.

  • Gentle Rubbing: Dip a clean cloth or sponge into the solution, gently rub the stained area, and allow the toy to air dry.
